Travel app must haves

    1. Currency exchange app – I use XE Currency.  Try to remember what a point in US dollars is equal to in the foreign currency:  $10 = XX, $100 = XX. etc.
    2. Google Translate – even when you are going to a country that speaks English, the sign translation is very helpful.  When I went to Bonaire, a Dutch country, some of the signs and items in the grocery store were in Dutch. The app did it’s job.  Make sure to download the language when you have wifi, then you can use the app if there is no cell service or wifi available.
    3. TripIt – I LOVE this app.  Especially when you have a big itinerary.
    4. VPN – I use NORDvpn but there is a nice free vpn service Windscribe.  What is a VPN blog coming soon.
    5. Star Walk – For stargazing.
    6. FlightRadar24 – Flight Tracker
    7. WhatApp – Facebook messenger – Keep in touch with friends and family back home for free when you have wifi.
    8. WiFox – from FoxnoMad – airport lounge wifi passwords ($1.99)  I have not used this app, but I heard it is a good hack if you need wifi at an airport.

Tip 1. If you have long layovers, think about checking out the airline lounge.  You can buy a day pass at most airline lounges.  Besides comfy chairs, most offer food, beverages, alcohol, wifi, and some have showers.  SleepinginAirports.com or LoungeBuddy.com has a list of airport lounges.

Tip 2.  If you get stranded at an airport due to a flight be canceled, check out SleepinginAirports.com They are a great resource of where to snag a snooze.

Tip 1. Don’t forget where you’re staying.  Whenever you check into a hotel, AirBnB, etc., remember to get a business card or write down the address and stick it in your purse or wallet. Phones die or worse, lost or damaged and you might not be able to remember where you’re staying. Back in the day you used to grab a book of matches, but times have changed.
